Initial survey of Croix-des-Bouquets

damaged house

Phillippe and Jonathan, part of the field team led in Port-au-Prince by Freddy Yanez, have completed the initial survey of 5 villages of Croix-des-Bouquets, where the work will be taking place in May to September. These villages are Galette, Roche Blanche, Drouillard Dasney, Laferronay and Digneron. There is an average of 6 family members per home and they did a quick interview with each family as well as photographing and taking not of the current status and damage to each of the 101 houses. From this initial survey it has been found that 12% of the houses completely collapsed, approximately 19% of houses are in the stages of repair whilst 70% are waiting for a diagnosis and repair. This survey is the beginning of our work in the field, and will support the specific decisions as to how to organize the work and our stay in the months to come.
